To improve the operation of local government and related public agencies through proven risk management techniques.
It works! What appears "unpredictable" may be controlled with the use of such techniques as safety/loss control, cost-effective insurance, and self-retention. A risk management professional studies the "unpredictable" events and tries to turn them into controllable (and in some cases even predictable) events and therefore preventable events. Risk management professionals, by banding together in association, benefit from each others’ experience and expertise.
Established in 1978, PRIMA is a membership organization for public risk management practitioners. National PRIMA consists of more than 1600 member public entities.
Public Risk - Bimonthly magazine; in-depth news and features on topics of concern to members. PRIMAVISION - a video cassette tape service. Information Services - a clearing house and network of risk management information around the country. Pooling - assistance to newly established pools.
Kansas PRIMA is a state chapter of the National PRIMA organization. Members of the Kansas PRIMA represent all types of public entities such as cities, counties, school districts, water districts and airports.
